No way around it, this is a challenging time for doulas and birth professionals. We are about personal connection and in person support. How can we make this business work within the physical distancing guidelines? Even though we are starting to come out of the pandemic slowly, there is still a shift that has happened. B Business overview
This is the time to really look at your business. What do you have in place right now? What is working? What have you wanted to do to learn or market your business, but you haven't yet? Have you shifted any classes or services to an online platform? Even though we can now potentially go back out and teach classes in person, options seem to be much more open online. Have you thought about offering a self paced or live class on line to reach a larger market? R: Revenue and Money Reserves What income do you currently have coming in? What is your break even level of income for your household? What reserves do you have? Is there a need for additional revenue now or do you have the means to support your household for a few months without additional revenue? Do you have reserves to spend money on your business at the moment? This question works for a pandemic and for a doula that is looking to support themselves or a family on income from birth work. A: Action Plan This is where you can really dig in and look at strategic options for you right now. Offer online options? Offer in person options? Add something new? You can look at your time and money availability and then work within your personal boundaries. This is the time to consider social media strategies, blogging, and various class or ask the expert options. Want help for this portion? Consider registering for Getting Your First Clients. I: Implement This is where that action plan is birthed! You'll actually follow through with your action plan, observe your results, update your plan and move forward again. Consistency is the goal not perfection. Want help implementing? Check out Boost Your Business VIP experience. N: Nothing We are all grieving right now. There is likely trauma in your life. This isn't the time for HUSTLE, unless you thrive in hustle mode. Sometimes we can only focus on survival and the minimum to get through. Make sure you schedule NOTHING into your plan sometimes. All hustle and no downtime doesn't equal success. It equals burnout and overwhelm. The same is true for beyond the pandemic. Hustling until you are burnt out does NOT build a sustainable birth business. Visit the class calendar for more information on all classes offered.
